Do you enjoy working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment? First National Bank Alaska is seeking an experienced copywriter to join our Corporate Communications and Customer Experience team. This Corporate Communications and Marketing Specialist II position plays an important role in creating effective and impactful communications for internal and external audiences across a variety of communication platforms.
The ideal candidate must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills; be self-motivated and quality-oriented; work with a sense of urgency; excel at project management and creative problem solving; and have previous marketing and communications experience.
Position responsibilities include:
- Writes, edits and reviews a variety of corporate communications for internal and external audiences, including press releases, articles, brochures, newsletters, advertisements and social media content.
- Collaborates with the Corporate Communications and Customer Experience team, internal stakeholders and external vendors.
- Manages a high volume of projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Maintains and enhances brand perception through high-quality technical and creative communications.
Salary: $31/hour minimum. Job/salary offer would be commensurate with job level and experience.

GENERAL PURPOSE SUMMARY
Leads and executes integrated marketing, corporate communications, advertising and public relations initiatives in direct coordination with business development strategies and bank-wide objectives. Plays a key role in the development and implementation of the bank’s strategic marketing and communications plan. Serves as a senior-level project manager and lead writer, providing strategic messaging guidance, ensuring brand alignment across platforms and driving measurable results. Advises internal stakeholders on communications strategy by performing the following essential duties and responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Facilitates marketing project development; initiates, creates, oversees and implements marketing and communication strategies and tactics to promote bank services, utilizing relevant media while maintaining internal knowledge and growth awareness of the bank’s unique brand identity. Tailor communications to align with the bank’s brand and support initiatives.
- Writes, edits and reviews a variety of corporate communications for internal and external audiences including oral/visual presentations, articles and editorials, brochures, fliers, direct mail inserts, calendars, annual reports, responses to proposals, and print, radio, and television advertisements.
- Contributes to the development and implementation of the bank’s social media program, helps to ensure compliance with Social Media policy and department process; key contributor to the creation, coordination and implementation and monitoring of the bank’s social media activities. Leads collaboration in developing corporate messages and content, and performs daily updates to the bank’s internal and public website (per established bank policy).
- Plans and coordinates a variety of marketing events and activities including trade shows, conferences, seminars, open houses and other public relations events; develops and implements pre- and post-event promotions and messages; schedules and reserves event sites, necessary refreshments, equipment, prop and supply delivery; and coordinates bank employee attendance and booth staffing.
- Communicates with and gathers information from a variety of departments and levels of management throughout the bank, serving as a liaison for marketing and communication project completion bank wide. Facilitates cross-functional team efforts for various departments, and assists supervisors in project budget development and tracking.
- Responds to internal and external customer requests for information, and maintains awareness of subject matter experts within the greater work area and the bank for effective referral.
- Participates on various assigned bank committees as the Marketing Section representative and apprises Marketing and Communications Manager on committee activity.
- Maintains awareness of advertising, public relations and banking industry regulatory issues and changes in bank technology.
Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

May supervise assigned delegates. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, recommending new hires, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Requirements
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in marketing, advertising, communications, public relations, journalism, or related field, plus three years’ advertising, public relations, event planning, or related experience; or five years advertising, public relations, event planning, or related experience; or equivalent combination of education/training and experience.
Preferred: Demonstrated professional writing ability and previous copywriting experience.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Advanced word processing, desktop publishing or graphic experience, database, spreadsheet, photography, and printing or electronic media production experience preferred, and excellent written and verbal communication skills required; ability to think critically, leverage business metrics, effectively manage own and other’s time and priorities and resources required. Ability to handle highly confidential information, frequent deadlines, and time constraints required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries or complaints from groups of managers, clients, customers, regulatory agencies, the general public, top management, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches or articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING SKILLS:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
