Position Summary
Love live sports, cutting-edge broadcast technology, and creating unforgettable fan experiences? San Diego State University Athletics is seeking a Broadcast Engineer to help power the broadcasts behind Aztec Athletics. In this role, you'll help deliver high-quality live productions by supporting the broadcast systems and technology that bring SDSU Athletics to audiences on campus and beyond.
Working closely with Athletics production staff, campus partners, students, and external broadcast teams, you'll support live event productions, maintain broadcast infrastructure, and contribute to the planning and enhancement of broadcast systems. This is an exciting opportunity to combine technical expertise, innovation, and collaboration while supporting one of the nation's premier collegiate athletics programs.
Key Responsibilities
Support the operation, maintenance, and enhancement of broadcast and audiovisual systems for live athletic events.
Coordinate technical production activities, including live broadcasts, remote productions, and videoboard operations.
Partner with campus departments, vendors, and broadcast partners to maintain reliable and innovative production systems.
Mentor student assistants and production staff while supporting technical documentation, equipment management, and future broadcast initiatives.

Position Information
Full-time, benefits eligible, temporary position with an anticipated end date of June 30, 2027.
Position is designated as exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation.
Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., This position is expected to work a varied schedule, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays, to support departmental operations, programs, and special events.
The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.
Requirements
Key Qualifications
Comprehensive knowledge of television and radio engineering principles, including frequency allocation, electromagnetic wave propagation, radio signal measurements, and broadcast systems.
Knowledge of federal communications regulations and experience applying applicable industry standards.
Experience with digital and analog electronics, audio/visual systems, and troubleshooting broadcast equipment.
Familiarity with cable, fiber, microwave, and satellite networks, including the underlying technologies that support broadcast operations.
Experience using computerized broadcast, television production, and webcasting systems, including video server technology.
Experience planning, operating, maintaining, and supporting television and radio broadcasting facilities.
Demonstrated success interpreting and applying state and federal communications regulations.
Experience providing technical guidance, training, and support to staff and student employees in a collaborative environment.
Licenses/Certifications Required
Valid California Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.
