JOB SUMMARY

At ExxonMobil, our vision is to lead in energy innovations that advance modern living and a net-zero future.  As one of the world’s largest publicly traded energy and chemical companies, we are powered by a unique and diverse workforce fueled by the pride in what we do and what we stand for.

The success of our Upstream, Product Solutions and Low Carbon Solutions businesses is the result of the talent, curiosity and drive of our people.  They bring solutions every day to optimize our strategy in energy, chemicals, lubricants and lower-emissions technologies.

We invite you to bring your ideas to ExxonMobil to help create sustainable solutions that improve quality of life and meet society’s evolving needs. Learn more about our What and our Why and how we can work together.

Treasurers is the corporate finance group within ExxonMobil and has a broad mandate to develop and implement financial policies for worldwide operations.  Our global operations create significant opportunities for finance professionals to learn and add value alongside some of the most exceptional industry experts and leaders.

Treasurers’ primary source of MBA full-time hiring is its summer internship program.  Senior Treasurers management directly oversees this program and has a high level of interaction with interns throughout the summer.  Each intern is assigned a project to complete over the course of the summer that is representative of the type of work done by full-time associates.  Example intern projects include:

  • Evaluating the option value embedded in phased development of large Upstream projects
  • Analyzing affiliate operating cash balances and developing strategies to reduce or eliminate them
  • Developing financial measures to test the financial capability of competitors during market downturns
  • Analyzing existing processes for paying contractors in major projects and recommending improvements
  • Analyzing the range of mechanisms used for closing adjustments on asset divestments and developing recommendations to minimize such adjustments
  • Reviewing existing procedures for pricing intercompany loans, determining how closely these practices align with external capital markets and recommending adjustments
  • Evaluating employee investment options in the company savings plan and recommending changes

Once hired full-time, associates can expect to rotate through three to four assignments in the first five years, allowing for a variety of experiences to build skills and knowledge.  Treasurers roles tend to have an international orientation whether based in Texas or overseas and are designed to provide professional development over the course of a career.

Initial associate assignments are usually tied to corporate activities across a variety of financial areas.  Examples include:

  • External financing, corporate capital structure and dividend policy
  • Affiliate capital structure and dividend policy
  • Investment of benefit plan assets
  • Cash management
  • Risk management and insurance
  • Investor relations

Subsequent assignments typically involve applying financial expertise in direct support of business projects and activities and may include opportunities throughout our finance and commercial organizations, as well as opportunities to live outside of the United States for those interested.  Individual responsibilities will increase commensurate with experience.

We are looking for people who:

       Are Inquisitive:  Demonstrate intellectual curiosity

Have Integrity:  Honest, ethical and do what is right

Care:  Respectful, inclusive and contribute to the well-being of our communities and environment
