Description

Global Communities is seeking a part-time Program Coordinator, Community Action Network (CAN) to join the team at the headquarters in San Diego, California.  

 The Program Coordinator coordinates activities for the Community Action Network (CAN), an organized partnership of individuals who unite to collectively apply their knowledge and resources in support of San Diego’s Healthy Start Program. The Healthy Start Program engages program participants and partners in the mission of eliminating disparities in birth outcomes. The Program Coordinator engages and acts as a liaison to a variety of partner agencies, organizes regular meetings and training events, and leads workgroup activities, including a Parent Advisory Committee intended to ensure the voices of Healthy Start participants shape program priorities.

This is a part-time position working 20 hours per week in a hybrid remote work arrangement.

 COMPENSATION:

 $55,920 - $69,900

 NOTE:

Responsibilities

Responsibility Area: CAN Coordination

  • Conduct outreach and organize meetings to engage program participants and partners in the program’s mission of eliminating disparities in birth outcomes.
  • Work with the Program Director and core partners to develop and document an annual CAN action plan that addresses barriers to care, improves the local perinatal care system, and addresses social determinates of health.
  • Ensure the coordination of necessary workgroups to accomplish the CAN action plan, including leading at least one workgroup.
  • Lead efforts to deliver at least six partner learning sessions each year, in collaboration with other project staff and partners. Ensure logistics and invitations are finalized within one month before they are set to occur.
  • Organize a minimum of four Parent Advisory Committee activities each year. Ensure logistics and invitations are finalized within one month before they are set to occur.
  • Ensure proper documentation of activities, including measurable indicators of success and membership breakdown (type of partner organization, racial/ethnic identification, and number of active program participants).
  • Provide monthly summaries of activities to the Program Director.
  • Complete sections of semi-annual reports including the Performance Report (due each June) and Progress Report (due each December).
  • Administer annual membership survey and analyze results.

Other:

  • Assist with special projects including collecting data and reporting, proposal writing, and/or mentoring of other team members as assigned.
  • Participate in agency, project, and partner activities and meetings.
  • Perform all other duties as deemed necessary by the Program Director.

POSITION SPECIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Must be available to work occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Must be available to work overtime during peak periods.
  • Must be able to organize and attend some in person events and trainings.
  • Promote a culture of excellence, inclusion, learning, support, diversity and innovation.


Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Interest in women's health, including prenatal and post-partum concerns; mental health, childbirth, infant behavior and development, and local community and social service resources.
  • Socio-cultural experiences comparable to the populations served, along with knowledge and respect of the values and beliefs of African American and/or Black Immigrant women and communities.
  • Specialized training in childbirth, doula, postpartum doula, or lactation education is a plus. At least two of these trainings will be provided within the first year of employment.
  • Fluent in English (read, write, speak) is required, second languages are a plus (Somali, Swahili, Haitian Creole, and Spanish are especially desired).
  • Proficiency in computers and use of MS Word and Excel required.
  • Detail-oriented with strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to collect, analyze and manage data.
  • Knowledge of and passion for systems change and collective impact.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in a related discipline and a minimum of two years of related work experience or a minimum of six years of related work experience.
  • Experience with stakeholder engagement, event planning, and perinatal health issues (childbirth education, doula work, lactation and/or parenting education).
  • Experience with virtual and in-person event planning, including webinars.
  • A passion for the mission and values of Global Communities.
  • Requires U.S. work authorization.
  • Must be available for occasional travel within California and US.
