Description
OverviewGeneral Responsibilities: The Tuxedo Club internship program is designed to provide future PGA Professionals with a hands-on, practical learning experience in both golf operations and professional golf tournament management. The Program offers candidates the opportunity to gain the supervised work experience necessary to achieve PGA of America Membership, as well as the knowledge and experience to become future Assistant Golf Professionals.
Potential Internship Levels for the 2026 Golf Season:
Level I (Freshman or Sophomore): 3-Month Intern with mainly outside operations and junior golf responsibilities
Level II (Sophmore or Junior): 3- or 5-Month Intern with largely inside operations responsibilities including merchandising, tournament administration, and junior golf instruction.
Level III (Junior or Senior): 5- or 7-Month Intern "Assistant-in-Training" that fulfills the role of a third Assistant Golf Professional.
Experience Required
Educational Requirements: High School diploma or GED required; must be enrolled in a fully accredited Golf Management Program.
Essential Responsibilities
Specific Responsibilities:
- Greet members and guests and anticipate their needs in advance to provide exceptional service. Be informed of property information and facts about daily events in order to answer Member questions and provide information as appropriate.
- Assist the Golf Professional Staff with all men's, women's, and junior golf events and programs as directed.
- Assist the Golf Professional Staff with the development, organization, and implementation of the Junior Golf Program; participating as an Instructor in weekly golf academies and clinics which teach life skills, etiquette, rules, and the fundamentals of the game of golf. Tracks the progress of junior participants and possesses the ability to interact with parents, in a positive manner.
- Assist the Golf Professional Staff in the inventory control of hard goods, soft goods, and special orders including: ordering procedures, receiving procedures, inputting into point of sale, pricing procedures, display, and sales. Maintain an attractive and orderly appearance in and around the Golf Shop.
- Assist the Director of Outside Operations in management of the caddie program, ensuring that caddies are assigned, in a timely fashion, to all groups who require/request them. Assist these groups in directing them to the tee when appropriate and in an orderly fashion.
- Assist with management of outside service staff to ensure the highest quality of customer service is achieved.
- Become proficient in and actively participate in all golf operations including the practice facility, golf cart operations, bag drop and storage, on-course rangering, starting, caddie management, tournament operations, junior golf activities, and golf shop operations.
- Assist with golfer check-in and fee collection; control and manage play.
- Assist with all opening and closing procedures.
- Provide basic club repair services as required.
- Play golf with a variety of Members from time-to-time as required.
- Assist Golf Professional Staff and Director of Outside Operations with various activities on a seasonal basis.
- Conduct oneself in a professional manner and maintain a professional image at all times.
