Great Lakes Private Wealth (GLPW) is an independent registered investment advisor (RIA) serving high-net-worth families across Michigan and Florida. We actively manage customized portfolios of individual stocks and bonds, with a focus on growth, tax-aware strategies, and multi-generational financial planning. Our small, entrepreneurial team works hands-on with clients and emphasizes deep research, client trust, and long-term relationships.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a Summer 2026 Investment Research Analyst Intern to join our team for a 10–12 week program. This is a unique chance to gain exposure to equity and fixed income research within a boutique wealth management firm. You will work directly with partners and senior advisors, contributing to real investment decisions and client deliverables. Strong performance could lead to future opportunities with our firm.
What You’ll Do
Conduct research on individual equities and fixed income securities, including valuation, fundamentals, and sector analysis.
Monitor market, macroeconomic, and geopolitical developments, and summarize key insights.
Assist with portfolio analysis, performance tracking, and investment commentary for clients.
Prepare concise research notes, charts, and presentations for internal and client-facing use.
Support ad-hoc projects including quarterly earnings tracking, bond ladder updates, and thematic research.
What We’re Looking For
Rising sophomore, junior or senior (Class of 2026, 2027, or 2028) pursuing a degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
Strong analytical and quantitative skills; proficiency in Excel required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to distill complex ideas clearly.
Intellectual curiosity, attention to detail, and a passion for investing.
Ability to thrive in a small-team environment where initiative and accountability matter.
Prior exposure to investment research, portfolio management, or financial modeling is a plus.
Interest in pursuing the CFA designation preferred.
Details
Location: Farmington Hills, MI (in-office with some flexibility).
Duration: Summer 2026 (10–12 weeks).
Compensation: Competitive hourly rate.
